So yeah. I decided to go and try one of my previous jobs to get some employment, hopefully something steady. He gives me this whole guilt trip about how last time we talked (for the record, he approached me, and not even in person!) and I backed out. He was crying about how he put his neck out, blah blah.
After our initial conversion years back I talked to a few people there and it turned out it looked like he was offering one position, but was actually gonna stick me in a LESSER position. So I said my current place was gonna offer me more than he could afford, and we parted company. That way I didn’t hurt his little feelings. There’s more, but too much for one page, so read the whole article damnit!
Now to the present. I goto him, he lays it on thick, and says I have to be serious, and I actually was, despite the fact I’d hate the job, but I’d do it RIGHT. Turns out he’s still an ass and treats his subordinates like shit. Glad I’m not working for this prick. He says he’ll call me on Friday and asks if I can work Sat. Sun. and Mon. Now I’m in a very big need for a job, so I say yes despite the fact I had a full weekend, which I cleared. No call Fri., Sat., or Sun. Monday rolls around and I check my spam filter (a rare occasion since my spam filter programs works freakin’ great) and it turns out my last boss has been trying to reach me for WEEKS! I called him up and it looks like I may be working for him again. Not a bad deal, the job is pretty good and I see a lot of potential in it.
Later on in the evening a little past 7PM (a manager working past 5?! Is he MAD?!) I get a call from the old boss I went to earlier. He says he’s ready to start me and I’m like WTF? I told him I was expecting his call, had cleared my ENTIRE weekend, and was never called. Like all big retail chain managers (what’s with these people?) he decided to add a very important word to the conversation AFTER the fact: “potentially” call me on Friday. THEN WHY THE FUCK ASK ME TO CLEAR MY WEEKEND?! I told him I’ve gotten other opportunities and he wusses out and “The offer is no longer being extended”. What a prick, seriously. I’m now more determined than ever to NEVER work for a major retail store chain. No one is worth a shit to them, it’s kill or be killed. At least my last boss saw that I was awesome, recognized my skills and went looking for me.
