This may just be one man’s view into the future, but I’m not looking foward to the future of Windows.
Why?
Well, it’s not to say Windows will be bad. Vista is actually pretty good compared to XP. But I’m more worried of Windows 7.
It has occurred to me while working in the computer repair industry that people are morons. Yeah I’ve been saying that for years, but I mean super morons.
People have been getting lazier and lazier. No one wants to do it themselves anymore. I spend 95% of my time cleaning the same fucking infections and bugs because people are too lazy or stupid to learn how to prevent them or fix them.

I’m gonna give everyone a piece of advice about asking me for advice.
DO NOT ask for my opinion even if you already have made up your mind. You waste my time and you piss me the fuck off.
Recent example:
Guy I’m doing some computer work for wants to buy a laptop. He calls me up and asks what I’d recommend but mentions he likes HP. Well I tell him I don’t like HP and to goto ASUS. He says he wants to get one in a store (Best Buy) and doesn’t want to buy online. I told him I don’t like the major brands you’d find in a normal electronics store. He then asks “Well what’s your 2nd choice” I told him again I don’t like the ones in the stores. Fucker is going to BB to buy a laptop. I’m not giving him anymore advice since he’s obviously more knowledgeable than me and can’t even set up his own network right. Jackass.
No this isn’t about MP3s or movies, that’s a completely different can of worms.
This is about pictures and those fucking kiosks in every damn store.
I work in a place that has a kiosk where you can scan and print your own photos.
Every now and then I see copyrighted works being scanned or printed. So I politely inform the customer I cannot sell/print the item because it’s covered under copyright.

Something I’ve wanted to tell some customers over the years:
If I’m on the street, talking on the phone, with my iPod in my other ear, I don’t exist. I don’t get paid enough to care too much about work after I leave, and I certainly don’t get paid enough to help you with your problems while I have melting ice cream on MY WAY FUCKING HOME. Now if I like you, (And you’ll know it, cause I don’t dumb down my conversations with intelligent people, they get the REAL me) I’ll gladly sacrifice my time to revel in the rarity that is intelligence.
Moral of the story: If I’m not on the clock, don’t bother me.
Laptops are good for one thing: mobility. Gaming is NOT compatible with mobility.
Laptops have slow hard drives, they max out at very small sizes compared to desktop units, and usually run on a very slow interface.
Laptops have limited graphics capabilities. More often then not they do not have their own dedicated memory for the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). They usually SHARE memory with the rest of the system. This leads to massive slowdowns. Not to mention the GPUs inside laptops are jokes compared to budget chips for desktops.
Laptop CPUs are slower compared to desktop chips. This is so they can run cooler and consume less power.
Laptops can BARELY be upgraded. You can replace the hard drive and ram, that’s it. No new CPU, no new graphics, barely anything. Something fails? Most likely the WHOLE unit must be replaced. Read the rest of this entry »
So yeah. I decided to go and try one of my previous jobs to get some employment, hopefully something steady. He gives me this whole guilt trip about how last time we talked (for the record, he approached me, and not even in person!) and I backed out. He was crying about how he put his neck out, blah blah.
After our initial conversion years back I talked to a few people there and it turned out it looked like he was offering one position, but was actually gonna stick me in a LESSER position. So I said my current place was gonna offer me more than he could afford, and we parted company. That way I didn’t hurt his little feelings.
